So yesterday, Evangelical magazine Christianity Today wrote on their support for the impeachment of President Trump. I guess Fox & Friends got around to talking about it this morning because Trump had some wild tweets about it. He says a lot of nonsensical things, but this one really made me step back – a hard thing to do. It’s so wild, I had to break the tweets down to really get the full effect. I figured I’d go through them with you, so here are the tweets and what I came up with:
A far left magazine, or very “progressive,”
Yea, nope. Do you think Trump just calls anything he doesn’t like the far left? In an editorial written this past July, Timothy Dalrymple (president and CEO of Christianity Today) writes, “Some of our readers voted for Trump, in enthusiastic support or in reluctant pragmatism. Others rejected him.” Not exactly far left.
which has been doing poorly.
Well, according to Christianity Today, they have 4,300,000 monthly visitors, 500,000 print readers, 60,000 monthly podcast listeners and 440,000 email subscribers. Doesn’t sound like they’re doing that poorly, but again, another one of Trump’s card. Anything I don’t like is terrible, doing worse and worse in numbers, and nowhere as good as me.
knows nothing about reading a perfect transcript of a routine phone call
But, wrong again. Trump and Republicans keep shouting to read the transcript, but what the White House released was not the transcript. As the Independent writes, “In fact, a document released by the White House was a memorandum of the conversation and not a direct transcript. Its apparent revelation of a quid pro quo deal proposed by Mr Trump is seen by his opponents as key evidence in the impeachment inquiry.” And P.S., another Trump card. Everything he ever does is “perfect”.
have a Radical Left nonbeliever
And here we go – the good stuff! If Trump doesn’t like someone, they’ve got to be 1. radical and 2. leftist. There is no other choice. And why is a Republican’s worst nightmare a nonbeliever? Good-hearted atheists don’t exist? Well, probably not since they’re all going to introduce us to a godless, lawless land!
And Trump of all people accusing someone else of being a nonbeliever is just the pecan on top of this pie.
who wants to take your religion & your guns
And bingo! Trump’s greatest calling card – a campaign of fear! And it’s not just Trump. Turn on Fox News during any late night hour and it’s the same thing – this is who you should be angry at and this is who you should be afraid of. Everyone’s coming to get you and Trump’s the only thing that can save you! Dangerous words for a dangerous mindset. Tread lightly with any leader who proclaims themselves your savior.
No President has done more for the Evangelical community, and it’s not even close.
Donny might be right on this one? He really has done a lot in exposing a great portion of the Evangelical community for a band of hypocrites worshiping a golden calf.
I won’t be reading ET again!
Do you think he’ll at least be watching E.T. again? It’s a really good movie.
These two tweets really are a great case study of Trump. He says the same things, in the same way, over and over again. The far-left, doing poorly, perfect transcript, radical left, religion, guns and I’m the greatest President in the history of the world. And as usual, things that just have no truth in reality.
Watching Trump is fun most of the time, until you remember he leads the most powerful nation in the world. And if I had an uncle who tweeted the things Trump does, I’d really be worried about him. So why can Trump do so just because he holds the title of President?
And P.S., as I was writing this up, Trump’s still going at it. Yikes 😬.
Anyway, this will probably be my last post until after Christmas, so I hope you can find a little peace and quiet this season, and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
