The First of October

The first of October is here.

Time for cool winds and crisp leaves. Warm kitchens and fresh-baked foods. The crops in the old fields ready for harvest. Open windows and pumpkins at the doorstep. Scary movies and ghouls and goblins and the orange moon hanging low during spooky nights. Trips to county fairs and stands with roasted corn. Days ending with blankets, ciders and fires. The world changing with the maples and the birches.

The first of October is here.
